Bedtime Tips
Camping can make it difficult to sleep . . . especially when you have small children. They are often afraid of the dark and the unfamiliar surroundings can lead to major meltdowns.
Once when my children and I went camping I brought along a sack full of glitter and told them that the Woodland Fairy would come and visit them if they would go to sleep. With all the many lightening bugs they truly believed that the “fairies” were real. So needless to say they all tried their best to go to sleep. Once they did, I sprinkled glitter all around their sleeping bags and left a little prize for them outside the tent. The next night they went to sleep right away!
More Budgeting and Savings
If you are going to splurge on one item, for example if you have a large family, opt to buy a nice 6 person family tent and if the budget can stretch a little further go for either the 7 person tent or the 8 person tent that will both will give you that little extra sleeping bag wiggle room. Tent sleeping quarters are one of the few places that cutting corners can come back to bite you in the tush. Once you are out in the elements the extra money will have been worth it. Best of all, your family tent will last a lot longer and feel a lot safer if you go the extra mile.
